Starbursts and Marble Halls...Okay it's Sunbursts but I guess I have candy on the mind

Like Anne, I told my Gilbert that I didn't need starbursts and marble halls, I just wanted to be with him. Well, Steve went to Michigan for a conference this past weekend and I just can't help but to see some starbursts and marble halls in our future. Okay, not as grand, but hopefull this time next year, we'll be moving to our new job, looking at houses, etc.

Which brings me to the point of this post...for the past six years we've lived in student housing and our apartments have looked like...well something out of a good will catalouge if good will had a catalouge.

So I've been dreaming about home decorating. And I've started with Joshua's room. I was thinking it would be fun to have a Eric Carle or Leo Lionni theme. I love the artwork of both artists, and Joshua loves Eric Carle books. I wouldn't want to do just "The Hungry Caterpillar" but some animal/nature themes in their style. I was thinking of this store my sister and I checked out on Mass. Street called eangees.

I also found some eric carle bedding and accents online

What other kid's themes can you think of?

Whitney's So Funny

This morning I drove my sister to the airport. Her flight left at 6:55 am, so we left Lawrence at 4:30 am to get her there in time. Steve is in Michigan right now, so I had to take the kids with me. Needless to say, they were tired. But not cranky. On the way home, Whitney was really tired. She even said, "Mommy, Whitney tired." So sure enough she was nodding off. Just as she closed her eyes, the song "Upside Down " by Jack Johnson came on the radio, the one on the Curious George movie. All of a sudden I hear Whitney say, "Monkey song Mommy," and she closed her eyes and fell back asleep. Later this morning we were running errands and the song "Don't know Why" by Nora Jones came on and Whitney was so excited and said, "Elmo song Mommy!" At first I didn't know what she was talking about, and then I remembered this clip off Sesame Street. That funny girl!

I curled Whitney's hair for church the Sunday before the Fourth. I just love the little hair band I got from the dollar aisle at Target.

Steve's parents came out from Kansas City for the fourth of July. It started to rain as we were starting up the barbeque, but it cleared out enough to get the steaks going. After we did some "fireworks" (aka snaps)

Happy Canada Day!

Since Canada Day was on a Sunday this year, we had our annual party on Monday. (Complete with our annual quiz) We had tons of fun, and thanks to my awesome Uncle Steve, we had fun decorations and party favours!
